Snow Day Photos

TAKING SNOW DAY PHOTOS LIKE YOU’RE IN A CATALOG.

Follow us for more reflections on the traditions that shaped our Ivy experience.

Let's be honest, few things unite us – whether you're trudging across campus right now or reminiscing from your alumni perch – quite like a good old-fashioned snow day. And not just any snow day, but that snow day. The one where campus transforms into a pristine, picture-perfect wonderland, straight out of a glossy university brochure.

We all know the drill. You’d wake up, peek outside, and if the snow gods had truly blessed us, the world would be muffled, white, and momentarily devoid of urgent deadlines. That’s when the cameras would come out. Bundled in your coziest scarf, coffee cup strategically placed, maybe a textbook peeking out to subtly signal intellectual rigor, you’d brave the biting wind for that one perfect shot. The one that screams "idyllic college life" – not "just survived an all-nighter and now my boots are soaked."

It’s a tradition we mostly loved. A beautiful, albeit fleeting, escape from the relentless pace. For a few precious hours, the intense academic pressure lifted, replaced by the simple joy of crunching snow underfoot or seeing historic buildings draped in white. We might have silently grumbled about the cold, or the effort required to make ourselves look effortlessly chic, but deep down, we cherished those moments. They became part of our collective memory, a shared aesthetic, a testament to the unique beauty and occasional whimsy of our demanding academic journey. These photos weren't just about snow; they were about capturing a feeling, a brief, perfect chapter in our lives.
