SEEING THE SAME STUDENT PERFORMER EVERY YEAR.

Follow us for more reflections on campus life.

Remember those traditions we sometimes loved to hate, or secretly hated to love? From the cathartic chaos of Primal Scream nights to the whispered mystique of unconfirmed secret societies, our institutions were a vibrant tapestry of shared rituals. In the moment, some felt absurd, others demanding, a few even pointless. Yet, they formed the peculiar backdrop of our most formative years.

What’s truly surprising are the traditions you didn't expect to miss. Maybe it was the quirky annual event no one quite understood, or the specific seasonal gathering that marked the passage of time. These weren't grand, life-altering ceremonies, but small, consistent anchors in a world of intense intellectual pursuit and rapid personal growth. They were the predictable rhythms in an unpredictable journey.

Think about seeing the same student performer every year. Perhaps it was the opera singer with the incredible range, the jazz trio that always played the same spot, or the comedian whose jokes you knew by heart. They became part of the campus furniture, familiar faces in a constantly shifting sea of new peers and departing seniors. Their consistent presence, their evolving talent, became a quiet, comforting tradition in itself. We didn’t realize how much we’d cherish those quiet constants until they were gone.

These shared experiences, whether loud and collective or subtly individual, are what truly connect us. They are the unique threads in the fabric of our shared, extraordinary education.
