Remember the violinist who always played by the main gate, or the acapella group whose tenor hit that impossible high note in every concert? Perhaps it was the magician perfecting a new trick at every campus event, or the spoken word artist whose passion ignited the auditorium time and again. These weren't the grand, storied traditions like the Primal Scream before exams or the hushed secrecy of exclusive societies. Yet, for many of us, they were traditions all their own.
We might have rolled our eyes a little at first, or joked about their consistent presence. But as the years unfolded, watching the same student performer grow, evolve, and often excel, became an unexpected source of comfort. There was a quiet joy in their familiar faces, a subtle anchor in the whirlwind of academic intensity and social exploration. They were part of the backdrop, yes, but also a constant, a reminder of the vibrant talent pulsing through our student body.
Now, looking back, these weren't the traditions we expected to miss. We’d anticipate longing for graduation ceremonies or alumni weekends. But it’s often these smaller, more personal constants – the familiar strains of a guitar from a courtyard window, the unwavering energy of a certain dancer – that unexpectedly tug at our heartstrings. They remind us that the true essence of our time in these hallowed halls wasn't just in the grand rituals, but in the everyday magic woven by our peers.
