Post-Grad Life: Scheduling Meetings

LEARNING HOW TO SCHEDULE A MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Follow for more real talk on navigating post-grad life.

Remember those all-nighters, the intricate problem sets, the thesis papers that felt like they’d redefine a field? We mastered complex theories, debated grand ideas, and probably wrote code that could launch a small rocket. Then, we stepped out, degrees in hand, ready to conquer the world... and were immediately stumped by Outlook calendar invites.

It’s the workplace culture shock nobody warned us about. We thought we were prepared for anything. Instead, we’re learning that the greatest intellectual challenge isn't quantum physics, but figuring out how to "propose new time" without offending a VP, or worse, accidentally inviting the entire company to a 15-minute sync-up about email formatting. It's an absurd, almost comical, humbling experience.

Suddenly, the highly structured academic world, with its clear syllabi and predictable deadlines, gives way to an amorphous corporate landscape where "synergy" and "bandwidth" are actual metrics. We went from being intellectual gladiators to cautiously navigating the politics of meeting rooms and the nuances of CC versus BCC. It’s not about intelligence; it’s about a completely different kind of fluency. This transition is weird, wonderful, and utterly unexpected. But hey, at least we’re all in it together, probably still secretly Googling "best practices for meeting invites."
