…JOIN FIVE CLUBS AND ATTEND NONE OF THE MEETINGS.

Let's be honest. When you first stepped onto campus, there was this unspoken pressure, wasn’t there? The race to build the perfect resume, to project an image of unparalleled engagement and drive. We signed up for everything – the obscure academic societies, the entrepreneurial clubs that promised startup glory, the community service groups, maybe even a niche interest club for good measure. Our inboxes were flooded with meeting invites we perpetually "intended" to attend.

You’d nod enthusiastically at the club fair, envisioning yourself as the next great leader or innovator, only to realize your actual schedule consisted of classes, studying, and the occasional desperate plea for sleep. Those five, ten, maybe even fifteen clubs became nothing more than lines on a CV, a testament to our ambition, perhaps, but rarely our actual participation. Did we genuinely engage? Or were we just checking boxes, playing the prestige game, hoping it would unlock that dream internship or post-grad role?

Looking back, it’s almost comical. We were all doing it, weren't we? The unspoken rule of over-commitment, the FOMO that drove us to stretch ourselves thin for perceived gain. What truly mattered were the genuine connections, the late-night study sessions, the moments of real discovery. Those fleeting, un-attended club affiliations? They fade. The shared experience of navigating that unique pressure, however, remains a defining part of our journey.
