The Ivy Experience

...GO TO AN ACAPELLA CONCERT “IRONICALLY.”

Follow for more real talk about the Ivy experience.

Remember those days? The calendar was a battlefield, not a schedule. Every hour, every minute, seemed to be claimed by a class, a club meeting, a study group, or a networking event. We were perpetually overcommitted, driven by a silent, collective understanding that if you weren't doing something, you weren't doing enough. It was a unique brand of FOMO, less about missing out on fun, more about missing out on an "essential" part of the elite university narrative.

And then there were the acapella concerts. You probably didn't sign up for the email list, didn't enthusiastically mark your calendar. Maybe a friend dragged you along, or you went because it was "what you did." You’d find yourself in a packed auditorium, initially rolling your eyes, perhaps making a sarcastic comment or two under your breath. But then, somewhere between the intricate vocal arrangements and the perfectly choreographed moves, a strange thing happened. You found yourself humming along, tapping your foot, maybe even genuinely enjoying it. That's when the "irony" became less about sarcasm and more about a surprising, grudging respect for the sheer talent and dedication.

It wasn't just acapella. How many times did we find ourselves in situations we “ironically” embraced, pushed by the relentless current of campus life and our own desire to experience everything? These moments, often borne of overcommitment, actually defined a significant part of our journey. So, what’s your “Did you even go to [our type of school] if you didn’t…?” story? Share it.
