FINDING YOUR STUDENT ID IN AN OLD WALLET.

Follow us for more reflections on the journey from campus to career.

That faded photo staring back from a dusty corner of your old wallet, perhaps years after graduation, hits differently, doesn't it? It’s not just a card; it’s a portal back to a time when intellectual curiosity felt boundless, the library was a second home, and late-night debates defined your existence. That intense, almost intoxicating bubble of campus life often makes the transition to the "real world" feel... well, weird. Nobody really warns you about the subtle disorientations. We spent years honing critical thinking, dissecting complex theories, surrounded by ambitious minds, only to step into careers that sometimes feel far less grand or immediately impactful than we imagined. The structured challenge of academia gives way to the often unstructured, sometimes mundane, grind of professional life. That deep, comforting sense of community and shared pursuit can suddenly feel distant. It’s the Ivy nostalgia that sneaks up on you, a quiet longing for the intellectual camaraderie and vibrant energy that shaped so much of who we are. It’s OK to feel a pang for that version of yourself, or for the endless possibilities that seemed to stretch before you then. This transition is not always linear or glamorous. It’s an ongoing process of integrating that unique foundation with new realities, finding meaning beyond the hallowed halls. What did that ID card remind you of today?
