FEELING RELIEF AFTER SUBMITTING, THEN IMMEDIATE DREAD.
Follow for more authentic reflections on the Ivy League journey.
There’s a unique, almost universally understood, paradox among us. You’ve just hit 'submit' on that monumental paper, closed the exam tab, or walked out of that high-stakes presentation. For a fleeting moment, a wave of pure, unadulterated relief washes over you. The weight lifts. You can almost breathe again, taste freedom, imagine sleep. This is the promised land after weeks of color-coded notes that became a blur, after countless hours buried in library stacks, fueled by caffeine and sheer will. It’s the momentary triumph over the relentless mental rollercoaster of studying, the perfectionist drive pushing you past your limits.
But then, it hits. Not with a bang, but a creeping, insidious dread. Did I answer that question fully? Is my argument watertight? What if I misunderstood the prompt? The carefully constructed calm shatters. The anxiety, briefly subdued, resurfaces with a vengeance. It's the silent worry, the 'what if', the relentless self-critique that follows us long after the deadline passes. This isn't just about grades; it’s about upholding a standard, proving yourself, again and again. It's a feeling deeply embedded in our shared experience, a testament to the rigorous, often overwhelming, path we navigate. We're all in this unique boat, aren't we?
