DORM-WIDE WATER BALLOON FIGHTS DURING READING WEEK.

Follow along for more dives into the traditions that shaped our Ivy experience.

Remember those intense days? Reading week. The libraries were packed, the air thick with the scent of coffee and quiet desperation. Every minute counted, every page a potential exam question. Our brains felt like sponges, perpetually overflowing. Then, without warning, the signal would go out. A ripple of whispers, then a roar, and suddenly, the dorm hallways or the quad transformed into a watery battlefield.

Hundreds of students, armed with buckets, hoses, and an endless supply of balloons, would erupt in joyous chaos. For an hour, sometimes more, the pressure of exams, the weight of expectations, simply evaporated. We were just people, soaked to the bone, laughing until our sides hurt, forming fleeting alliances and staging epic ambushes. It was a primal release, a collective break from the relentless intellectual pursuit.

These weren't sanctioned events often, or maybe they were, but they felt spontaneously vital. They were dorm rituals, departmental quirks, the unwritten rules that forged bonds stronger than any class project. From study break pizza runs to elaborate scavenger hunts, these shared moments of planned absurdity or sudden spontaneity are what truly defined our time. They taught us the crucial balance between intense rigor and the absolute necessity of letting loose.

What were your moments? The ones that still make you smile, the traditions that cut through the stress and reminded you of the vibrant community we were lucky to be a part of?
